A little bit about me...
I’m Susan, seamstress at the root of On The Hem where I specialize in formal alterations (bridal and special events). I also combine my love for history and clothing by recreating clothes from the past or restyling something old to new. My love for sewing began when I was gifted a machine over 30 years ago. My experience over the years came through a mix of sewing, mentors, classes/workshops, and sewing for a winter apparel company, the outdoor industry, and even a local dance company.

Sewing to me is meditative, quiet, and collective. At times has its challenges, but for the most part very rewarding. I take pride in my work and strive for excellence, integrety and humility. The best part about it is I love seeing the reaction of clients when they feel good and love a piece specifically altered or created for them. When I’m not at my machine or have needle and thread in hand, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, and traveling.

Susan was extremely helpful. I will use her for all my alterations and tailoring. She does great work with custom patterns as well. Beautiful hemming and completed in a timely manner. Professional and very responsive.
